The global market sees vast amounts of goods transported across countries and borders every day, and managing the logistics involved is a fine art. Many uncontrollable factors – weather, fires, strikes, politics – can close down whole transport systems; the economic situation is uncertain; operational costs are fluctuating; and there is a serious shortage of experienced staff. However, in spite of these challenges, the sector looks set to grow and grow.

Disruptive new ideas such as ‘time-slot-specific’ and ‘same-day’ delivery are adding value, while online self-management interfaces are reducing costs and giving customers more control.

Many other radical ideas are being developed and tested, including driverless vehicles and drone delivery, so companies will need to be agile and innovative if they want to succeed.

Why QBE?

QBE has been supporting this sector for nearly 90 years. We work with a large number of leading transport and logistics companies; for example, we provide Motor Fleet cover to more than a third of the UK’s top 25 hauliers.

Our underwriters have a wealth of experience and technical ability in this area. They are flexible and empowered to make decisions, offering a range of relevant products and services to accommodate the evolving risks you face.

We like to work in partnership with our customers to minimise their risks. Our in-house Risk Solutions team – who have hands-on experience of working in the transport industry – will work closely with you and your broker to reduce the frequency and severity of your claims. In the event of a claim, we are committed to minimising disruption to your business.

We regularly work with road safety organisations and are currently involved with Brake and the Cranfield Motor Academy, which offers the opportunity for selected clients to enhance their knowledge about managing their risks, meet their peers and share best practices.
