Even the most carefully managed companies can be affected by unforeseen environmental impacts. We create cover that helps you plan for the unexpected.
Our environmental impairment liability (EIL) cover insures you for risks arising from your past or current operations, or for which you retain a legal liability. Cover includes claims for clean-up, bodily injury and property damage arising from pollution.
Sometimes, the damage caused by pollution only becomes evident years after the event; in other instances, the damage can be very sudden. We cover pollution and environmental damage, whatever the type of incident, reducing that uncertainty.
Our policies are designed to respond to evolving environmental law; and as we know that one size doesn’t fit all, we offer a range of options. For example, we can put together programmes that manage historical liability for up to 10 years as well as single project contracting policies with optional extended reporting periods.
This can be for either Operational or Historical Environmental Liability.
Operational policies cover your scheduled premises for environmental liabilities arising from clean-up, biodiversity damage and first and third party bodily injury and property damage from your policies inception date.
Historical Environmental Liability policies provide the same cover but for unknown, pre-existing pollution events which have occurred in the past but for which you may now be liable for. These are becoming an increasingly common requirement in property transactions.
Contractors’ policies are often required by funders of major development projects. They insure contractors or their clients against liabilities arising from pollution or environmental damage caused by activities on third-party sites and include the clean-up of pollution; third-party bodily injury and property damage.
As of January 2017 we have combined these individual policies into one, making it even easier to have all of your environmental insurance requirements under one schedule with additional optional extensions of transportation cover and associated business interruption as well as extended reporting periods.
Something that sets us apart is our ability to combine EIL cover with other QBE products, such as general liability, contractors’ all risks, professional indemnity and property cover for real estate.
We don’t write EIL policies in isolation so will need to consider any enquiries as part of a package with other QBE products.
We think it’s important that you deal with people who can make decisions and get things done, so you will always have easy access to our team of expert underwriters. Rather than supplying off-the-shelf insurance products, we will work closely with you to put together cover that is specifically designed to meet your objectives.
