QBE European Operations appoints Catherine Brown Non-Executive Director

QBE has announced that Catherine Brown has joined as Non-Executive Director for the UK. Catherine has joined the Boards of QBE’s Lloyd’s managing agent, (QBE Underwriting Limited), and its company market carrier, QBE UK Limited.

Ms Brown currently holds various other positions including Non-Executive Board Member at the Cabinet Office, Non-Executive Director of FNZ (UK) Limited, Chair and Non-Executive Director of Additive Flow and Non-Executive Director of Metro Bank. She is also a trustee of various charities, including Cancer Research UK and Blue Cross.

During her career, Catherine has led strategic and organisational change in private equity, banking and the public sector. Her functional experience spans strategy, HR and operations, with executive committee and board committee roles covering remuneration, finance, investment, audit and risk, and responsible business.

Catherine Brown said: “I am intrigued by the strategic opportunities and threats that the insurance sector is facing, by the opportunities presented by technology. I feel that the industry is on the edge of something significant. QBE’s scale is attractive because it is well placed to manage through and benefit from these changes.”
