QBE European Operations announces the rebranding of its US-based underwriting arm, Burnett & Company, Inc. (Burnett), to QBE International Markets with immediate effect.
Burnett, which specialises in underwriting marine and energy lines and has operated in the London market for over 50 years, was acquired by QBE Insurance Group in 2009. With two offices in the US, in New Orleans and Houston, Burnett employs over 20 people.
Since 2009, Burnett has operated as a distinct but integrated trading platform for QBE’s Marine & Energy Syndicate 1036, which forms part of QBE International Markets.
Peter Burton, Executive Director of QBE International Markets commented “Our acquisition of Burnett has proven a very successful route to market for our Marine and Energy business in the U.S. and the timing is right to now bring Burnett under the QBE brand name so that we can build on distribution opportunities and provide an enhanced product and service offering to our customers in the U.S. We also work in concert with our colleagues at QBE North America to deliver integrated solutions to our customers, and the rebranding makes our global strength all the more apparent.”
