Lithium-Ion batteries: increased adoption, overlooked risks

Three things to take away

Use cases and adoption trends

One of the most critical risks is thermal runaway, a condition where a battery cell overheats and causes a chain reaction leading to fire or explosion. The heat generated during this process can cause the electrolyte within the battery to break down, releasing flammable gases. These gases can ignite, leading to fires or explosions that can spread rapidly and are difficult to extinguish. In addition, thermal runaway cannot be reversed once it has begun.
