QBE appoints Sharon Smallridge as UK Casualty Portfolio Manager

QBE is pleased to announce the appointment of Sharon Smallridge as Portfolio Manager for its UK Casualty team.

Leading QBE’s London Major Client Portfolio for the UK Casualty team, Sharon joins from commercial insurer AIG. Effective from today, her role will be based out of QBE’s London office.

Bringing over 35 years of insurance experience across claims and underwriting, Sharon has spent the last 12 years in various senior roles, most recently as General Liability Manager.

The appointment is the second senior hire for QBE’s UK Casualty team this year. In June, QBE announced that Adrian Browne would take on the role of Director of Underwriting for UK Casualty following the retirement of Anna Bennett at the end 2025.

Incoming QBE Director of Underwriting for UK Casualty, Adrian Browne, said:

“We’re pleased to have Sharon join our UK Casualty team, where she will play an important role in our onward growth, especially across multinational. Sharon’s insurance track-record, industry connections and extensive market knowledge means she is a great fit for QBE.”

In recent years, the UK Casualty team has materially grown its GWP through client acquisition driven by customer-focused solutions and products. It has broadened its product offering to include QBE’s award-winning Minds in Business tool, a strategic mental health assessment tool. It has also launched its QBE Contractors Combined package. Other divisional successes include the extension of its 35-year partnership with SSR as well as the renewal of its UK and Ireland capacity with Pen Underwriting.
