Protecting the environment
We have committed to offsetting our carbon emissions from now on. Operating as a carbon neutral organisation means that our net carbon emissions from our building energy use, travel, office paper use and other operational activities are zero.
In addition to reducing our carbon footprint, our offset purchase through the programme provides us with opportunities to invest in a range of projects with significant benefits for rural communities and the environment.
One of the projects we are supporting is the Babinda Reef Project. The Great Barrier Reef’s water quality is under serious threat due to activities such as farming along the coastline. We are investing in projects that will re-vegetate and protect native forests and catchment areas, reduce nutrient run-off, restore animal habitats and provide alternative sources of income for local communities.
