The QBE Foundation has awarded a grant to fund pre-school education sessions for 33 deaf and hearing-impaired children.
The sessions, which are run by The Elizabeth Foundation, focus on teaching deaf children to listen using hearing technologies, and to speak with clarity and confidence.
Topics are changed every four weeks to keep the children engaged and stimulate listening, language and speech, and include story time, arts, crafts, cooking, role play, growing seeds and bulbs, and lots of music.
Sessions were independently reviewed by Ofsted in April 2016, with The Elizabeth Foundation gaining an Outstanding accreditation. Ofsted said that the sessions are highly effective and enable deaf children to excel.
