Previous charity partners

QBE's has partnered up with various charities since 2011.

2016/2017: Breast Cancer Care

Every 10 minutes someone receives the terrifying news that they have breast cancer and Breast Cancer Care are there for them from the day they notice something's not right to the day they begin to move forward after treatment. More than 55,000 thousand people are diagnosed every year.

The two year ‘Charity of the Year’ partnership ended on a high in December 2017 with over £289,000 donated to Breast Cancer Care. UK employees helped to surpass the £200,000 target by an incredible 45%!

2015: Sick Children's Trust

In the UK our chosen charity of 2015 was The Sick Children's Trust, QBE's most successful charity partnership to date raising £224k over one year. This partnership alone will help provide accommodation for families with seriously sick children for over 8,000 nights.

Every day, children are diagnosed with serious illnesses that leave them fighting for life. They often have to be transferred to specialist hospitals far from home to receive urgent medical treatment.

Life for their whole family is suddenly thrown into complete turmoil.

That's where The Sick Children's Trust steps in. The charity provides free, high-quality 'Home from Home' accommodation, as well as emotional and practical support, which means families can stay together while their child receives lifesaving treatment.

2014: Macmillan Cancer Support

For 2014 QBE's UK Charity of the Year was Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan acts as a source of support, helping with all the things that those affected by cancer want and need. In addition they offer support to carers, families, communities, fund specialist health care professionals and nurses as well as providing cancer care centres, giving much more than medical help.

Throughout the partnership in 2014, employees raised a total of £118,000 including matching from the Foundation for Macmillan.

Some of the highlights from the partnership include Macmillan Day which raised an incredible £27,974 on one day. It was the most successful QBE charity partnership fundraising day to date with a number of employees volunteering to take part in Macmillan's City Takeover event which contributed greatly to the total raised. For one day only Macmillan gained permission to collect donations from the public in the square mile of London's City centre and employees helped by volunteering to help collect as much as possible for Macmillan.

In 2013 QBE in the UK supported a number of Children's Hospices through the Charity of the Year partnership with Little Havens Children's Hospice. QBE's UK offices worked with locally paired children's hospices throughout the year by supporting them through fundraisings activities and volunteering. Through the partnership, employee fundraising and matching through the Foundation produced our largest donation yet of £178,942 for a charity partner, an increase of 56% on the previous year's partnership.
