Every four years, the finest players from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales come together as the British & Irish Lions to challenge the best teams from the Southern Hemisphere. They are recognised as the greatest touring team in world sport.
QBE is a principal partner of the British & Irish Lions’ tour to New Zealand in 2017, where we will be focusing on highlighting the role of the Lions’ management team, coaches, and operational and medical staff. They do the crucial behind-the-scenes work that makes it possible for the Lions to succeed.
This ‘team behind the team’ resonates with us because we also play a supporting role to our customers, giving them the confidence that their business risks are being effectively managed, so that they can focus on achieving their ambitions.
Team Behind The Team, Episode Five
Operational efficiency is a shared priority for QBE and the British Lions. As we all know, communication and collaboration are essential to executing a plan. In the same way that the British & Irish Lions medical team work with the coaches, local facilities on the tour and also the home unions to ensure that every players medical needs are anticipated, QBE bring the right people and information together to deliver solutions that work for our customers.
In the fifth video in our exclusive Team Behind the Team series, we see this from two perspectives. Firstly, from the medial team past and present including James Robson who has supported the Lions team as tour doctor for the past six tours and speaks of this role as “an immense privilege”. Then from Ex-Lion Lawrence Dallaglio, who regards the medical team as absolutely critical and the hardest working team on the tour.
Representatives from QBE caught up with the some of the Lions Management on a recent visit to New Zealand.
As part of their visit the management team were touring QBE Stadium, home of QBE Harbour Rugby and one of the training grounds for the upcoming tour. Former All Black Ian Jones (Kamo) interviewed three members of the Lions Management Team to get some insight as to how preparations for the Tour are coming along.
